Germany's Koch nabs 'Phase 7'

TAULL, The country -- Underscoring the growing worldwide marketplace for key Latin American game titles, Berlin-based M-Appeal has inked major territory deals on "Phase 7" and "The Final Round." Germany's Koch Media has acquired Nicolas Goldbart's apocalyptic horror-comedy "Phase 7." It receives its German premiere August. 17 in the multi-city Fantasy Film Festival. A holiday in greece is within discussions for "Phase 7" -- an indication that some Greek marketers continue to be purchasing, and typing in on non-European game titles, stated Anne Wiedlack, M-Appeal's sales director. Round," a boxer-chef love story, has offered to Germany (Bildkraft), U.K. (Peccadillo Photos.) and Italia (Atlantide Ing.) We have been improving our Latin American focus a great deal,Inch Wiedlack stated. That reflects both an individual interest and also the fact there is a market -- something which has been demonstrated within the last several weeks." M-Appeal has struck a brace of latest U.S. distribution deals. Inside a new U.S. genre distribution venture introduced March by AMC Theaters, The Collective and horror website Bloody Disgusting, "Phase 7" was released in 25 U.S. metropolitan areas this month. Palisades Tartan bought The United States on "The Final Summer time from the Boyita." Film Movement has had United States privileges to "Karen Cries inside a Bus," from Colombia's Gabriel Rojas. A U.S. deal on "Round," which received several offers off its Tribeca Festival U.S. premiere, has become within the works, stated Wiedlack. Contact the range newsroom at news@variety.com
